William Paul Kalencik

Born May 20, 1926 and raised in New York City, William ("Doc") began his military career at the age of 17 when he joined the U.S. Navy. He served as a Corpsman from 1943 until 1973 including service with the U.S. Marines and Navy Seabees spanning WWII, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. On May 21, 1944 (one day after his 18th birthday), Doc was injured at the West Loch Disaster in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and in 1945, he served with the 6th Marine Division at the Battle of Okinawa. After his retirement, Doc owned and operated Doc's Military Warehouse in SC for 25 years.
He is survived by 6 children: Larry Lewis - Monson, ME; William Kalencik - Charleston, SC; Michael Kalencik - Manchester, CT; Cynthia Kalencik Pitts - Smyrna, GA; Mary Kalencik -Brooklyn, CT; and Steven Kalencik - Middletown, CT. For the past 3 years, Doc was lovingly cared for by his devoted daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Joseph Pitts. In addition, Doc leaves four grandsons, two granddaughters, and two great granddaughters: Eric Labbe and his wife Jessica, parents of Gabriella and Isabella whom he adored; Jacob Kalencik; Alex Labbe; Michael Kalencik; and Amber and Shyler Lewis.
Doc's parents were Paul and Victoria Kalencik and sisters - Victoria, Pauline and Cecelia.
