NORMAL — Gary J. Nichols, 54, of Normal died at 4 p.m. Friday (Aug. 19, 2011) at his home.
His memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington, with the Rev. Tim Cavallo officiating. Interment will be private. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Way of McLean County.
Gary was born June 17, 1957, in Bloomington, the son of Roger and Dolores Batty Nichols. He married Maggie Wagner on May 30, 2011, in Normal. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Brad Nichols of Henry and Josh and Kirby Wagner of Roanoke; his mother, Dolores Nichols of Bloomington; a sister, Kathy (Tim) Miller of Heyworth; two brothers, Mike Nichols of Normal and Roger (Sue) Nichols of Normal; and numerous favorite nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and one niece.
Gary graduated from Bloomington High School and was the benefits representative for the UAW at Mitsubishi Motors in Normal for over 20 years. He was a member of the Laborers' Local 362 and UAW 2488. Gary golfed with the Bloomington-Normal golf tour for 28 years.
