David Charles Manges, Rural Route 1, Westmoreland, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, March 8, 1983 at the Dechairo Hospital, Westmoreland, Kansas at the age of sixty-seven years.
He was born February 15, 1916 at Barrett, Marshall County, Kansas, the son of William and Daisy (Mosher) Manges. He attended school at LaGrange and at Barrett.
He was married to Annie Heath on March 19, 1938 at Seneca, Kansas.
Mr. Manges was a farmer in Marshall County until 1949 when they moved to Pottawatomie County, living north of Westmoreland, Kansas. Here he farmed and worked for the Pottawatomie County Highway Deaprtment for about twenty-five years. He retired eight years ago because of ill health.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, two sisters and one brother.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Annie Manges of the home and four sons, Lloyd Manges, San Antonio, Texas; Floyd Manges, Westmoreland, Kansas; William Manges, Morganville, Kansas and Frank Manges, Clay Center, Kansas. He is also survived by fifteen grandchildren and a sister, Harriett Bacon, Richland, Washington.
Funeral services were held Thursday, March 10, 1983 at 3:00 p.m. at the Padden Chapel, Frankfort, Kansas with the Reverend Wally Proctor officiating.
Mrs. Eunice Samuelson, pianist accompanied Mrs. Lorene Shearer as she sang, "When I Take My Vacation In Heaven" and "Now The Day Is Over" for the services.
Serving as pallbearers were Ted Forst, Jim Forst, George Forst, Bud White, Jim Anderson and Ralph Anderson.
Interment was in the Barrett Cemetery.
