SIOUX CITY (IOWA) JOURNAL - THURSDAY, 21 JULY 2011

SIOUX CITY -- Dorothy Yvonne Brower, 85, of Sioux City passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday, July 17, 2011, at a local nursing home.

Per her request, the body was cremated. Private family services will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.

Yvonne was born Dec. 29, 1925, in Hubbard, Neb., the daughter of Alton and LaVerne (Keyser) Varvais-Miller. She married Jr. Glover and to this union she had three children, Pamela, Jeffery and Denise. She then married Rex Brower on Nov. 16, 1973. Yvonne worked at Sunshine Foods for nine years.

She served as president of the Sioux City Lioness in 1976. She loved to volunteer for many organizations including the gift shops in the hospitals and bingo games in the nursing homes. She also enjoyed bridge with the same ladies group for 40 years. She loved to travel and listen to music, but most of all, she loved to dance.

Survivors include her daughter, Pamela Hovde of Sioux City; five grandchildren, Shawn, Eric and Ryan Hovde, Mike Bales and Missy Bales-Burnes; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Loren and his wife, Bonnie Varvais of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; a stepbrother, Jim and his wife, Vivian Varvais of South Sioux City; and a sister, Marilyn and her husband, William Wilson of Kingsley, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alton and LaVerne; two husbands, Jr. Glover and Rex Brower; a son, Jeffery Glover; a daughter, Denise McBride; and a brother, Denzil Miller.
