Guy Read Bond
SHREVEPORT, LA - Guy Read Bond, born July 11, 1941, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, son of the late Henry Lofland and Lucile Ambrose Bond, a lifelong resident of Shreveport, died February 2, 2010. A memorial celebration of his life will be celebrated Friday, February 5, 2010 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Parlor of St. Luke's United Methodist Church on Youree Drive.
Guy attended Byrd High School, Tulane University, and the Sorbonne. He was a Renaissance man of many talents - a local historian, philosopher, theologian, artisan, and photographer - and worked as a restorer of fine homes, churches, and works of art.
Guy is survived by Jon Lofland Bond and wife Helene, of Boulder, Colorado; Lucienne Bond Simon and husband Joe, of Shreveport; Christopher Lewis Bond and wife Debbie, of Dover, Arkansas; nieces Andrea Savannah Bond Chang, Teighlor Simon March, Dr. Tatum Simon Johnson; and nephews Arthur Bond Simon, Henry Lewis Bond, Michael Lofland Bond, and Charles Anton Bond.
At Guy's request, his body will be donated to the LSU Medical Center for medical research.
The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to Phillip Peterson (Guy's assistant craftsman), Drs. Kathryn Richardson and Ashley Northcutt, and the nurses, chaplain, and staff of the LSU Medical Center Regional Burn Unit. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Luci Bond Scholarship at Centenary College, 2911 Centenary Blvd., Shreveport, LA 71104, phone 318-869-5011, or to a charity of one's choice.
