Services will be held at A.L. Moore and Sons in Phoenix at 10:00 a.m. Saturday for Lawton Champie, 74, who died Tuesday in Phoenix.
Born at Castle Hot Springs, Arizona, he was a member of the pioneer Champie family who settled in that area in 1886. He was a rancher and championship rodeo cowboy, earning the world championship in the 1920's.
He was a member of the Desert Caballeros Riders, the Wickenburg Elks Lodge and the Arizona Cattle Growers Association.
He is survived by his wife Elinore, a daughter, Elizabeth Dudley, three grandchildren, Lawton, Connie and Codie, and three sisters, Gertrude Walker, Claire Cordes and Emma Stivers.
Burial will be in the Champie Cemetery at the Castle Hot Springs. There will be graveside services.
