Joy R. Forsyth 1913 ~ 2005 BICKNELL, Utah - Emma Joy Rasmussen Forsyth, age 91, died March 19, 2005 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born March 21, 1913 in Thurber, Utah, a daughter of Cyrus Orsen and Christena Jensena Nielsen Rasmussen. She married Oral Venard Forsyth, December 2, 1934 in Bicknell, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple, March 19, 1936. Oral preceded her in death on September 21, 1990. Joy was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in all the Auxiliaries. She and Oral served a mission to the Manti Temple. They loved to square dance and served as the Thurber Ward Dance Directors. She was a member of the DUP, Camp Thurber. Joy was an excellent cook and homemaker. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting and embroidery work. In Bicknell, she worked for the school lunch program, as the Post Mistress, as a cook in the cafe and at the boy's ranch. Joy had many wonderful friends in Wayne County. Joy is survived by her children: Neil R. and Anna Mae Forsyth, Reno, NV; Keith O. and Ramah Forsyth, West Jordan; Don V. and Bonnie Forsyth, West Valley City; Carolyn and Kenneth Turner, Price; Gwen and Clare Wardle, Midvale; 21 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; sisters-in -law: Faun Fordham, Taylorsville; LaRue Rasmussen, Loa. Preceded in death by her parents; husband; a daughter, Phyllis Forsyth; two grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, seven sisters and two brothers. The family would like to thank the nurses, aids, staff and friends at St. Joseph's Villa in Salt Lake City, for all the love, kindness and respect they have shown to our mother during the last year of her life. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 24, 2005 at 1:00 P.M. in the Thurber LDS Ward Chapel in Bicknell. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. and at the ward chapel in Bicknell, Thursday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Bicknell Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
