— Jean Willis Pinkerton, 77, of Martindale passed away Feb. 17, 2011 at the Hays Nursing Center in San Marcos.
Jean was born May 12, 1933 in Grapeland to Marvin and Josephine Teems Willis, the third of five girls. She was preceded in death by her parents and her oldest sister Lorene Barkley.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years Dr. Frank Pinkerton and son Dr. Bruce Pinkerton, both of Martindale; three sisters, Wanda Musick of Grapeland, Leigh Cunningham of Palestine and Brenda Elam of Zorn. Debbie Roberts of Lockhart became a close and valued friend and caregiver for the past few years and her love and concern was a wonderful blessing to Jean.
Jean was an intelligent, independent and strong woman who was willing to try anything new and challenging. Married at the young age of 15, she supported her husband through his education years and their many moves and travels with his chosen profession, moving with him to Thailand, Japan and many states in the U.S. After retiring to East Texas, her passions were animals and gardening. She continued with these loves until her health made it impossible to continue. Throughout her entire adult life, Jean always had a dog, sometimes two, and they were loved unconditionally and cared for, even moving to foreign countries with her and Frank.
A private memorial is being planned around Jean's birthday in the Spring.
