One of the original Houston Colt .45s, this hard-luck left-handed pitcher played with nine major-league clubs between 1959 and 1971, including two seasons with Houston (1962-63). His longest major-league stint in any one place was four seasons with the Angels (1965-68).

Brunet pitched in the Mexican League until the age of 54, then died there two years later from a heart attack on October 25, 1991.
