Sharon Baggett Grimes, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, godmother, friend and mentor died on Sunday, January 17, 2010. Sharon was born on May 5, 1953, to Austin and Madge Baggett in Memphis, Tenn. She was preceded in death by both parents and a sister, Kathy Manning-Strickland. Sharon's life motto was to leave the earth better than you found it and that was certainly evident in all that she did. She was an active member of Grace Episcopal Church where she served as a past Sunday School and Youth Teacher, Vestry member and Treasurer of Grace's Integrity USA chapter. In addition, she was Secretary of The Clay County Fine Arts Council, Executive Administrative Assistant to the Executive Director of MARC. Sharon volunteered and served in multiple capacities over the years with MARC, the City of Liberty, Liberty Chamber of Commerce, Clay County and The Jaycees. Sharon is survived by two children, daughter, Amber Reynolds and husband Larry (LJ) of Liberty, a son, Eddie Grimes of the home, two grandchildren, Kammi and Korby Porter of Liberty, one brother, Blaine Baggett, one niece, Melanie Marshall, three nephews, Ian Moffitt, Austin and Walker Baggett, one great niece, Lakin and one great nephew, Paul, and countless friends who loved her. A celebration of Sharon's life will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at Grace Episcopal Church, Liberty. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to The American Diabetes Association , Kansas City Aids Walk , Grace Episcopal Church - Feeding Ministry or Integrity USA.
