Born Oct. 1, 1944, in Franklin, he was the son of James F. and Pauline E. DeLong Case.
He attended Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va., earned a bachelor of arts degree from Clarion University and his master's in education from Edinboro University.
Mr. Case was a retired educator for Kirtland High School, Kirtland, Ohio. He coached baseball and football. Mr. Case was a financial adviser for World Marketing Inc. He attended Nicklin Methodist Church.
Mr. Case enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, painting, woodworking, reading and philosophizing.
He was married June 12, 1991, to Madine Stachiw, who survives. Also surviving are his father, James F. Case; three sons, George Ashley Case of Youngstown, Ohio, Garth Jacob Case and wife, Denise, of Bradenton, Fla., and Andrew Patrick Case of Painesville, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Suzette Stachiw of Youngstown, Ohio; and two grandchildren, Markus Alexander Case and Jenna Lynn Case, both of Bradenton, Fla. He also is survived by three brothers, Clyde E. Case and wife, Peggy, of Mosely, Va., James Case and wife, Kay, of Franklin, and David H.
Case of Columbia, S.C.; an aunt, Shirley Ritchey and husband, Lloyd, of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Case was preceded in death by his mother; and his former wife, Betty Lou Schlicker Case.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday in the Chapel of the Divine Word, 8100 Eagle Road, Kirtland, Ohio.
