Death: Feb. 24, 1941, At Sea

Ensign W. A. Daniel, USNR, was designated Naval Aviator #6564 in 1940. Entered active service via the pre-war Aviation Cadet (AVCAD) program.

24-year-old Ensign Daniel died as a result of an aircraft accident during the evening of 24 Feb. 1941 while piloting a SBD dive bomber assigned to Bombing Squadron (VB) Six off the USS ENTERPRISE (CV-6). The accident took place off the Southern Calif. coast -- near Carlsbad. No body was ever recovered.
