Our ray of sunshine, Ashlee Nichole Fleming was given into God's Hands on Sept. 12, 2010. Born February 7, 1991, she was 19 years old. From an early age, Ashlee lived her life by her own rules. Her mother affectionately called Ashlee "my monster child" because she received a double dose of stubbornness wanting her own way, yet she would melt your heart by her thoughtfulness. Being the youngest of three children, she was spoiled rotten and teased by her older sister, Karen and brother, Justin, just showing their love as families do. Ashlee was raised by her mother in Boerne and graduated from Boerne High School in 2009. She was active in the school choir singing soprano, dance team, church youth group. Her love for the outdoors took her into girl scouts, AFROTC and stock show, showing goats. She enjoyed babysitting her numerous "little" cousins and playing video games with her older ones. She always had a smile for her "redneck" family and friends, a very giving person. Ashlee is survived by her mother, Barbara Walker; grandparents, Gloria and Martin Obst, Frankie and Louis Hernandez, and Lizzie Spriggs; Sister, Karen Spriggs and brother, Justin Spriggs; Uncles, James Hinesley, Jr., Edward Hinesley, Sr. and his wife Pam, Philip Hinesley, Sr. and his wife, Bea; Several years ago she found her father's family in Kentucky – affectionately her "hillbilly" family extending her love and laughter to grandparents, Russell and Alice Fleming; uncle, Kelly Fleming and his wife, Marle; aunt, Dawn Young and her husband, Jimmy; little brother and sister, Brandon and Lauren Fleming and step mom, Carmen ; as well as numerous cousins. Ashlee was planning to attend Cordon Bleu Baking School in Austin, TX. She wanted to open her own cake shop. She loved baking with her grandmothers. Ashlee joins her grandfathers, James Hinesley, Sr. and Leroy Spriggs, Sr. and her uncle Charles Hinesley in heaven watching over her loved ones. Our ray of sunshine will be greatly missed. Every thunderstorm, even when Ashlee was that storm ended with a ray of sunshine, Ashlee's smile. Visitation will be on Thursday, Sept. 16 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Vaughan's Funeral Home. The Funeral will be on Friday, Sept. 17 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, with Pastor Henry Schulte, officiating. Burial will follow in the Boerne Cemetery.
