Matthew Weezy VAN HORN Obituary

Age 24, of Cottage Grove On Oct. 16, 2013 As a result of injuries sustained in an accident. Memorial visitation Sun, Oct. 20, 2013 from 2:00-5:30 pm with a service of remembrance at 5:30 pm at Kok Funeral Home, 1201 Portland Ave., St. Paul Park. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers. Survived by parents, Greg and Denise; brother, Brian (Brianna); nephews Jackson and Louis; grandparents, Amy Rivet, Lloyd and Serena Van Horn; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Preceded in death by his grandpa, Bill Rivet and uncle, Kenneth Rivet.

Matthew "Weezy" Van Horn, age 24 of Hastings, formerly of Cottage Grove died Oct. 16, 2013 at Regions Hospital as a result of injuries sustained in an accident. A memorial visitation will be held on Sun, Oct. 20, 2013 from 2:00-5:00 pm with a service of remembrance at 5:00 pm at Kok Funeral Home, 1201 Portland Ave., St. Paul Park. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers. Matthew James Van Horn was born July 26, 1989 in St. Paul to Greg and Denise (Rivet) Van Horn. He graduated from Park High School in 2008 where he was a member of the wrestling team and an avid weight lifter. After high school, Matt served as the assistant varsity wrestling coach for 3 years at Park High. He worked as a landscaper for a few years before taking a job where he was trained as a pipefitter for General Sprinkler. One of his favorite hobbies was playing disc golf where he enjoyed the competition and spending time with his friends. His love for the sport started at a young age and played as often as he could. He also enjoyed hunting, relaxing at the camper, fishing at Sand Lake and playing cards in garage with his friends late into the night. He loved his family dearly and looked forward to time spent with his nephews. Everyone who knew Matt appreciated his outgoing and charismatic personality. He lived life fully every day. He is survived by his parents, Greg and Denise; brother, Brian (Brianna); nephews Jackson and Louis; grandparents, Amy Rivet, Lloyd and Serena Van Horn; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. He is preceded in death by his grandpa, Bill Rivet and uncle, Kenneth Rivet.
