I found an F.S. Peake who was on the Oregon Trail in 1850, investigating more now. I have every reason to believe this is the same man, as things were not going well back in Missouri after his father was killed in 1842, and the embarrassment of what his father did to cause his death. New beginnings elsewhere, seems all the boys did this, go elsewhere except Arthur.

There is an F.S. Peake on the list of people who went on the Oregan Trail from MO. in 1850.

Did you marry? Did they call you "Fant", as your namesake the son of your brother Dr. John Humphrey Peake, was called? I located you on FAG and from the gov't land grants. You have a very interesting family history, follow the parents all the way back to John I in Virginia.
Some of this family Peake's were written in the diaries of Geo. Washington, some written in books by Sam Clements (Mark Twain), while they lived in Hannibal, Mo.
If you are "KIN", please contact me. I am searching for pictures of this family and pray someone out there will know where they can be found.
Your sister Laura Herrick also buried in this cemetery beside her husband Lyman Herrick.

Just a little of information on the Peake's in my line of Dr. John Humphrey Peake (above), they were very closed mouth people. The none of your business sort, lol. I think this must have developed during the Civil War era and we were on the South side. Then there is the story of Fauntleroy & Dr. John's father, Dr. Wm. O. Peake, and the shame he brought to the family. See that story on his link. Either one of these theories makes sense, they just set out to forget about it all, so much hardship and pain.

.
I want to thank Lisa McClain for transfering this management to me and for understanding my desire to put this fragmented line of the Peake's back together, they did not make it easy.
