Wilma Lucille Billington passed away July 23, 2012. She was born June 27, 1927 in the western Kansas town of Coldwater to Wilford and Lucille Betzer. She is the fourth child of five children. Her brother Donald Betzer was a pilot and died in WWII, her sister Dorothy Moores was killed in an automobile accident in France. She is survived by her sister Betty Brass of Leawood, Kansas and her sister Mary Einsel of Wickenburg, Ariz. Wilma married Clyde Thompson in 1945 and they had four children: Randall Thompson of Littleton, Colo., his wife Kathy and their four children Andrea, Lindsay, Allison, and Ryan; Richard Thompson of New York, NY and his three children Leah, Ross, and Lucy Kate; Rosemary Thompson of Santa Fe, NM, and her daughter Amy; Ruthann Reece of San Diego, Calif, her husband Kurt and their children Steven, Kori, and Nick. Wilma married Dr Monroe Billington, a history professor at New Mexico State University, in October 1980 and became step-mother to Marion, Mari and Melinda. While Wilma and Monroe traveled extensively and lived in Italy and Okinawa, they made their long-term home in Las Cruces, NM. Wilma had 28 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Wilma moved to San Diego, Calif. in 2008 following the death of her husband Monroe and lived in San Diego until her death on July 23, 2012. Wilma was loved for her warm. caring, fun-loving personality and will be missed by many.
