Janie "Mimi" Wagner passed suddenly on May 31, 2008 at her home in Lago Vista, Texas, after a full life of delivering joy to those around her. The story of her life began on Halloween in 1925 where she grew up in Somerset, Pennsylvania, as Fances Roberta Walter, with her two brothers, who spent most of their time keeping her out of trouble. Mimi was a role model for how to live life. She moved with grace, class and kindness in everything she did, and her presence lit up the rooms she dwelled in. In 1950 she married Joseph Wagner of Central City, Pennsylvania, and together they shared 55 years together. She lived all over the world and her spirit touched everyone along the way. Active in her community, she served on the Lago Vista School Board, and throughout her life she participated in organizations that promoted education and support of the Nation's military. She is survived by her brother, Jack Walter of Pittsburg, PA, one daughter, Penny Zabriskie, one granddaughter, Shannon MacKay along with her husband, Ron Mackay, and one great granddaughter, Hailey Mackay, all of Austin, and a herd of cats, dogs, and deer. There will be a memorial service at the First United Methodist Church in Round Rock, on Thursday, June 5, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers can be made to Lago Vista PAWS, PO Box 4100, Lago Vista, TX 78645 Published in the Austin American-Statesman on 6/4/2008
