THOMAS ELLIOTT (1705-1738) was an Assemblyman in the Carolina Commons House of Assembly (Biographical Directory of the South Carolina House of Representatives. Volume II: The Commons House of Assembly 1692-1775, p 225).

THOMAS ELLIOTT (1705-1738) was first married to ISABELL WEST on 18 April 1723 in St. Barholowmew’s Parish, Charleston District, South Carolina (Biographical Directory of the South Carolina House of Representatives. Volume II: The Commons House of Assembly 1692-1775, p 225). On the death of Isabell West, Thomas Elliott (1705-1738) married his 2nd spouse, MARY BUTLER on 20 July 1738 (Biographical Directory of the South Carolina House of Representatives. Volume II: The Commons House of Assembly 1692-1775, pages 352, 225).

On 23 October 1738, THOMAS ELLIOTT (1705-1738) of the Charleston District, South Carolina, made his will. In the will he named his son, SAMUEL ELLIOTT.

Shortly after his marriage to Mary Butler, Thomas Elliott (1705-1738) died as his will was proved on 1 November 1738 in Charleston, South Carolina. He died between 23 October 1738 (date he made his will) and 1 November 1738 (date his will was proved).

THOMAS ELLIOTT (1705-1738) and ISABEL WEST had the following known children:
• Thomas Elliott (b: abt. 1724)
• Benjamin Elliott (b: abt. 1725)
• Lt. Colonel Samuel Elliott (b: abt. 1726)

THOMAS ELLIOTT’S son, SAMUEL ELLIOTT, was born about 1726 and died 7 April 1777 in Colleton County, South Carolina. He is recorded as having served in the Revolutionary War from 1775 until 1777 in the Colleton County Regiment under Colonel Joseph Glover. He served as a Captain and was promoted to Lt. Colonel prior to his death.

Lt. Colonel Samuel Elliott (1726-1777) married Elizabeth Saunders.

Samuel Elliott (1726-1777) and Elizabeth Saunders had the following children:
• Thomas Elliott (b: abt 1756)
• Benjamin Elliott (b: abt 1757/1758)
• Elizabeth Saunders “Eliza” Elliott (b: abt 1759). She married Glen Drayton on 30 May 1781 in Charleston, South Carolina.

On 11 March 1777 (codicil made on 22 March 1777): Samuel ELLIOTT of Colleton County, South Carolina, made his will. He named his wife Elizabeth (granddaughter of Elizabeth HUNT); sons Thomas & Benjamin (both under 21); daughter Elizabeth; sister-in-law, Sarah ELLIOTT, deceased; brother, Thomas ELLIOTT, deceased. Executors were brother, Benjamin ELLIOTT, and cousin, Barnard ELLIOTT. The will was probated on 5 April 1777/1778 (writing unclear). It is not known where Samuel Elliott is buried, but he might be buried in Saint Philips Episcopal Church Cemetery, Charleston, South Carolina, where his cousin, Barnard Elliott (1740-1778) is buried.

(1) 2 June 1786: Thomas ELLIOTT, planter of Hilton Head, made his will and named his sister Mrs. Eliza DRAYTON; brother-in-law Glen DRAYTON. Will proved 9 August 1786. Burial location unknown, perhaps the Episcopal Churchyard of Saint Helenas in Beaufort County, South Carolina, where his sister’s husband, Glen Drayton is buried.
(2) 8 July 1788: Benjamin ELLIOTT, son of Samuel, planter, made his will.
Named sister Elizabeth Saunders DRAYTON (wife of Glen DRAYTON); nieces Elizabeth & Margaret DRAYTON. Sole executrix, mother Elizabeth ELLIOTT.
(3) 30 November 1792: Elizabeth ELLIOTT, widow of Samuel ELLIOTT,
Charleston, SC, made her will. She named her daughter Elizabeth DRAYTON; granddaughters Eliza Elliott DRAYTON, Margaret Glen DRAYTON. Mentioned John DRAYTON.
