Rosa Drewery Dortch was born and raised in Mecklenburg Co., VA. Her mother and maternal grandmother were Rosa Lee, so she went by "Drew". Her parents were Charles Dortch and Rosa Lee Perkinson. Drew married Charles Lee Clark, and they lived in Richmond. They had one son Eugene, who was raised as Eugene Dortch and grew up with his Dortch grandparents. Drew lived near or with Eugene most of his life. Drew had a stroke at a young age, and you can see it in her pictures. She was good friends with several of her first cousins and kept in touch with them for years by visits and letters. She died in Hanover County where Eugene was living, and was buried with her husband in the Richmond National Cemetery.
