Catherine McEntarfer

Catherine, daughter of John and Margaret Reinhart, was born Aug. 22, 1855 and died March 15, 1932, at her home near Waterloo, at the age of 76 years, 6 months and 21 days.

She was the oldest of a family of seven children, all having passed on except one brother, Peter Reinhart of Corunna.

She was first united in marriage to John Metzger. To this union was born two daughters and two sons. The husband died June 18, 1890, leaving her and the four children. On March 25, 1892 she was united in marriage to George McEntarfer. Two sons and a daughter were born to this union. The husband died Sept. 21, 1923. One son, Frank Metzger, died in July 1912, and a daughter, Bertha Duncan, in January, 1931.

She was very ill at the time of her daughter's death and she endured a lot of grief with her suffering at that time. She recovered from that illness and was quite well until February 8 last when she became bedfast and did not recover.

She was a very ambitious woman, a kind and lovable mother, and endured her suffering patiently. She was united with the German Lutheran church when a young lady.

She is survived by two daughters, Esther Campbell of Detroit, Mich., and Nellie Hevel of Pleasant Lake, three sons, Charles Metzger of Auburn and Ora and Harry McEntarfer of Waterloo, besides seventeen grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Funeral services were held from the Dilgard funeral home in Auburn Friday afternoon and burial in Cedar Lake cemetery. Rev. Ernest Lewellen of the Waterloo U. B. church officiated.
