A memorial celebration for longtime music evangelist Jamall Badry will be Oct. 7 at 6:45 p.m. at Olivet Baptist Church, 1201 N.W. 10th in Oklahoma City. Badry, 75, died unexpectedly Aug. 29, 2010 at his home in Colorado Springs, CO. The Oct. 7 celebration will include a message by Tom Elliff, music by The Singing Churchmen of Oklahoma, of which Badry was a charter member, testimonies and some of Badry's most popular music. Badry grew up in Norman and graduated from the University of Oklahoma. He spent two years as Minister of Music at Sunnyside Baptist Church in Oklahoma City, before going into fulltime evangelism. Next year he would have celebrated 50 years in music evangelism. He recorded 19 gospel albums. After moving to Colorado Springs 30 years ago, he established Music Evangelism Foundation, which sponsored an annual Bible Conference, a yearly gospel show in Branson, MO, missions in Africa and India and a Christmas feeding.
