Officer Thomas Duggan, a 25-year veteran of the force, died February 22, 1972, of injuries suffered three days earlier when he was punched by a youth he was trying to eject from George Washington High School. He suffered a fractured rib and punctured lung. The youth was charged only with disorderly conduct.
