ROGERSVILLE -- M.C. Barner, age 62, Rogersville, died Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at Holston Valley Hospital, Kingsport, following a brief illness.
He attended Hughes Memorial Church, and was a farmer.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Georgia Lawson Barner; father, Charlie Barner; and brother, Hallie Barner.
He is survived by a daughter, Robin Suzanne Barner, Rogersville; three brothers, Elmo Barner and Lincoln Barner, both of Rogersville, and Harold Barner, Church Hill; three sisters, Lois Slater, Louella Alvis and Jean Alvis, all of Rogersville; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends any time at his mother's homeplace on Burton Road (on the bypass next to the Ford Tractor Co.) and from 6 - 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 19, 2001, at Colboch-Price Funeral Home.
Funeral services will follow 8 p.m. with Revs. Robert Weems and Jerry Manis officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Adam Gederberg and Travis Barner, and active pallbearers will be family and friends.
Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, 2001, at the Alvis Cemetery on Cave Spring Road.
