Obituary published June 21, 2010:
"ELMER JEAN JENNINGS - My life has been touched because we have walked a special walk together, because you matter to me, because we are friends, because you have given me courage, because I care, and I love you.
Elmer (Jean) Jennings 79 years old beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, uncle, son, passed from this life, May 27th, 2010 on a Thursday, with his family at his side. Born in Ava, MD (sic) Feb. 24th, 1931 to Nellie and George Jennings. The family moved to Yakima and then to Kenn. WA, in 1948, and lived here the remaining years, and later met his wife Judy M. and they had a son Jerry.
They loved going fishing in Tucannon and he loved camping, traveling, he loved driving his 4x4 Toyota truck. He used to be a member of the Eagles and the Grange. He always liked to go pick up shells out where they use to practice shooting in the country. He saved his shellls for eleven years and had 56 5-gallon buckets, and couldn't even pick them up. I don't think we'll ever forget that, neither will the guys at the scrap metal yard or the grandsons who loaded them on the truck. But that was Jean.
His family meant everything to him. His grandbabies to his beloved Yoki his little black bear, Holly dolly grand-daughters, April, Chelsea, Charla, Crystal, grandsons Chris, Curtis, Sean, Mick and 6 great-grandchildren.
Jean retired early after a injury in construction. He worked at T.V. Studios repairing and installing T.V.'s. He worked for lumber companys, hauling sheet rock than into construction, and into the area.
Jean is survived by his Wife Judy M. and his Yoki bear Chihuahua who he cherished. His son Jerry (Tami) daughter Sue Jennings, Bellingham, Step-daughter Carrie Chacon and (Art). Step-sons Jim and Dave and many many family members and friends. Sister Charlene Anderson (Lary) Calif., Sister Louise Chambers, Pasco.
Jean is preceded in death by his parents Nellie, George Jennings, brothers Omer, Roy, Mason and sister Norene Shinpaugh.
Dear Lord we beg you to comfort those in our family who are grieving. You are the God of compassion extending Mercy to the beloved hearted. We have great need of You oh Lord and continue to remind us that You are the source of all our hope and peace.
At Jean's request there will be no service.
Family wishes to thank Dr. Wane Kohan, Dr. Madarang and Dr. Scully and the great nurses and everyone that took care of Jean at KGH. Nurse Rae in P.C.U., Bobbie and Kris Jennings, Judy Jennings and Nick."
