Russell Wheeler, 80, of Paragould passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2009.

He retired as store manager after 38 years with Kroger and pursued his hobbies of woodworking, computers and gardening. Russell was a member of Center Hill Church of Christ, where he served as a deacon.

Preceding him in death were his parents, two brothers and two sisters.

He is survived by his wife, Alline Wheeler of the home; two daughters and sons-in-law, Pauletta and Mike Brown of Seward, Neb., and Beverly and Dennis Hanes of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; three grandchildren, Russell Brown, Eric Hanes and Dusty Hanes; and three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Logan and Jonah Brown.

Funeral services were held in Center Hill Chapel at Phillips Funeral Home with Jon Binkley and David Lawrence officiating. Burial was in Greene County Memorial Gardens.

Serving as active pallbearers were the elders of the Center Hill Church of Christ: Darrell Webb, Keith Bryson, Carlton Bryson, Terry Sanders, Chuck Palmer and Charles Long.

Honorary pallbearers were: Alfred Rowe, Vernon Lacey and Jearl Howard.
