THE WATHENA TIMES---FRIDAY----OCTOBER 31, 1930

Myra Jane Newton Drosselmeier was born in Wathena, Kansas, July 24, 1864, and died at Orange, Calif., October 25, 1930, at the age of 66 years, 3 months and one day.
She was married to Mr. Frank H. Drosselmeier October 26, 1887. Had she lived one more day they could have celebrated their 43 wedding anniversary.
Mrs. Drosselmeier became a christian very early in life and united with the Baptist church of Wathena of which she was an honored member at the time of her death.
In her quiet way she lived a beautiful and useful life. She was a good woman, a true and devoted companion, and friend to all she met.
She loved her Lord and Master. His church was her first concern, she had watched the progress of this organization with keen and loving interest through its history.
She not only gave generously of her means for its support, but was in her pew when ever possible for her to be there.
Her Christian life was consistant, even those who did not care for the church admired her loyalty and faithfulness to her church.
She wore a mantle of charity for others, no unkind words were heard from her lips, she had the faculty of overlooking the faults of others, in her convictions she was kind, but uncompromising.
In her the poor found a friend, her hands were outstretched to many a needy one, many of these known only to the recipient.
She was a worthy member of the Woman's Christian Temperance Union and enjoyed the felloeship of this order next to her church and home.
She is survived by the husband, two sisters, Mrs. Mary Whealy of Aneheim, Calif., Mis Hattie Newton, of Concordia, Kansas and one brother William Newton of Fairbury, Neb. She took the place of mother to two of her nieces, Mrs. Edna Klawuhn and Mrs. Grace Lehman. These together with a host of relatives, friends and neighbors morn her departure. She will be missed in the church, in her home, and in the community. No one can ever take her place in the lives of those left behind.
All that medical and surgical skill could do was done to make her comfortable and to ward off the hand of death. Everything that could be done was done, but she has gone to be with those of her loved one who have gone before.
She bore her sufferings with patience and great fortitude.
Funeral services were held from the first Baptist church, Thursday, October 30, 1930 at 2:30 p.m. conducted by the pastor, Rev. F.E. Carter, assisted by the Rev. H.H. Fowler, pastor of the Methodist church.
Interment was in Bellemont cemetery, A.L. Dodds of the Meierhoffer Mortuary was in charge.
