Gerald Ray "Jerry" Lambert age 82, passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2016 in Sebring, Florida.

He was born on September 5, 1933 in Rensselaer, Indiana to the late Ray and Angeline (Abbott) Lambert. A Catholic by faith Gerald graduated from Gilboa High School in 1952. After graduation he joined the United States Air Force serving his country for 27 years from 1952 until 1980. He proudly served in the Vietnam and Korean Wars. He retired in 1980 as Chief Master Sargent at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois. He moved to Sebring, Florida in 2014 and was very honored to have been on the Honor Guard for VFW Post 4300. He always called the guard members his "Brothers". Gerald married the love of his life Peggy in Hawaii on the beach at sunset. They loved to play golf and did a lot of traveling. After his retirement from the Air Force he farmed and had a spraying business and then started a trucking company. Gerald loved playing golf with his groups in Indiana and Florida. He called all of them his "Buddies". He loved watching all sports especially Purdue Basketball. Gerald and Peggy spent their Sundays watching sports on TV. Gerald was a people person and never met a stranger. He was fortunate enough to go on the Indy Honor Flight to Washington, DC on September 5, 2015, which he immensely enjoyed, and wanted to give a big Thank You to his friend Phil English for being his guardian on that trip.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy Lambert-Sebring, FL, two daughters, Carrie (Rick) Griffith and Sheri (fiancé Sean) Lambert all from PA, two step-sons, Bradley (Shana) Gould-IL and Mark (Anita) Gould-SD, sister, Shirley Glotzbach and brothers, Larry (Anita), Frank (Linda) and Ronnie (Brenda) Lambert, sister-in-law, Shirley Haynes, brother-in-law, Dick Byrd, six grandchildren, Rick (Elizabeth) Griffith; Jessica Griffith; Peter Griffith; Stuart Lambert; Jack Lambert; Emily Lambert, four step-grandchildren, Derek (Katie) Gould, Katie (Dean) Hillen, three step-great-grandchildren, Abigail; Andrew; Graham, Several nieces and nephews and cousins. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Don Glotzbach, sister-in-law, Barbara Byrd, and mother-in-law, Mary Harris.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, February 6, 2016, 10:00 a.m. at VFW, 1041 Lakeview Drive, Sebring, FL and on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Miller-Roscka Funeral Home, Monticello, IN. Interment will take place at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
