Samuel T. Allen was the second husband of Frances Hudgens (Wilson)(Allen)(Malone). The exact year and location of his death is not known for certain, nor is the location of his gravesite known for certain. He "may" be buried in an unmarked grave near other kin in the Allen family cemetery in Phelps County, Missouri (where his son Valentine "Tine" Allen is buried). He seems to have vanished from the records circa 1848-- some unverified sources speculate he was killed by Indians in the woods, others speculate he may have taken off for parts unknown or to visit supposed "relatives in Massachusetts" where he may have "taken another wife" (unverified oral legend). As of this writing, his origins and whereabouts after 1848 are shrouded in mystery. NO proven connection to a Massachusetts family of Allens has yet been documented/verified. It is more likely the Allens came from Virginia into North Carolina/Tennessee, then into Kentucky and then into Missouri. As yet his actual parents are not known and not proven via any YDNA testing results to date. Numerous trees on websites such as Ancestry connect him to various parents, without proof. This memorial has been added to commemorate this ancestor, and as a research aid to help other descendants connect with this Allen line.
There is some speculation that has surfaced that his middle name may have been Valentine, and that the "T" middle initial commonly used to identify this ancestor may have been derived from the nickname "Tine"; Samuel "Tine" Allen. Again, this is purely speculation but may be a clue to assist in further research on this ancestor.
Memorial page will be updated if/when additional info is found on this ancestor.
