Leah Dale Hudspeth Thurmond

Birth: 1812
Tennessee, USA
Death: 1889
Calloway County
Kentucky, USA

Leah Dale Hudspeth Thurmond was wife of James Jordan Thurmond; mother of Elvira Tennessee Thurmond Crider, Thompson Glenn Thurmond, Mary America Thurmond Tucker, and several other children. She was the daughter of Thomas Hudspeth Sr, Revolutionary War Patriot, and Sarah Glenn Hudspeth. Her final resting place is unknown and may be unmarked. She may be buried with her husband at Bazzell Cemetery in Calloway County,Kentucky; or near their daughter Mary America Thurmond Tucker and other Thurmond-Hudspeth-Crider-Tucker kindred, at their son-in-law's family cemetery known as Tucker Cemetery in Calloway County. Other sources indicate there is a Tucker book which states she is supposedly buried in Stoddard County, Missouri; and that after her death her widowed husband supposedly "returned to" Kentucky. HOWEVER, all of the census records show them living in Kentucky, and I have found no evidence of them living in Missouri at the time of Leah's death. They were still in Calloway County, Kentucky on the 1880 Census. On online memorial is being placed for her here, with the caveat that a gravesite and marker have not been found.
