Alan Edward Parker, 56, of Summerville, husband of Diane Laird Parker died Sunday, August 12, 2007 at Summerville Medical Center. A celebration picnic for family and friends only will be held Saturday, August 18, 2007 from 3 until 6 o'clock at Givhans Ferry State Park. The family requests that all who attend please bring a covered dish. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: H.E.L.P. Kennel, c/o Mary Collins, 202 Poplar Circle, Summerville, SC 29483. Mr. Parker was born May 16, 1951 in London, England, son of the late Eric Parker and Elizabeth Aitchison Parker. He was a graduate of Greece Arcadia High School, Oswego NY State University and Life Chiropractic College, Atlanta, Georgia. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, boating, running, swimming, cooking and was a hospice volunteer. He retired from the Coastal Center as a residential coordinator. Surviving in addition to his wife of 34 years are, mother and father-in-law, Shirley and Ernest Laird of Rochester, NY; sister-in-law, Denise Laird Riley of Rochester, NY; three nephews, Ian Holcomb, Jordan Holcomb and Parker Kirby all of Jackson, Wyoming; aunt and cousin, Lydia Adams and Garry Pett of Hastings, England; uncle and aunt, Bill and Kay Aitchison of East Kilbride, Scotland; uncles and aunts, Helen and Bill Batrowny, Mamie & George Joseph; cousins, George, Tom and Peter Batrowny and Janette Joseph.
