John Allen Jacobsen, 47, of Clinton passed away Thursday evening, January 20, 2005 at University of Iowa Hospitals. Memorial Services will be 2 p.m. Monday, January 24, 2005, at Lemke Funeral Homes North Chapel, 2304 No. 2nd Street, Clinton. The Rev. Mike Harmon of Open Bible Fellowship will officiate the service, and burial will be in Clinton Lawn Cemetery.
John was born September 8, 1957 in Iowa City to John F. and Ramona (Quick) Jacobsen. He attended school in Clinton. He married Suzy Malone on June 18, 1977 at Chancy Lutheran Church. He was a welder by trade and had been employed by Ipsco Steel in Blue Grass, and previously by Illinois Range. He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and Chancy Lutheran Church. John was a huge Chicago Bears Fan, and enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting. His love most of all was for his baby boy Shaun Michael.
He is survived by his wife Suzy Jacobsen, of Clinton, his father John F. Jacobsen of Clinton, his grandmother Inez Johnson of Clinton, his brothers and sisters, Richard "Dick" Jones of Clinton, Daniel Lee (Lori) Jones of Clinton, Cindy (Nick) Holt of Clinton, Debbie Andrews of Clinton, Dennis Andrews of Clinton, Kevin "Joe" (Gloria) Andrews of Folletts, and Shelly (Randy) Brewer of Clinton, numerous nieces and nephews, and his best friends, Rich Perry of Camanche and Phil Lemke of Albany.
John is preceded in death by his son Shaun Michael on March 31, 2001, his mother, 2 brothers Larry Jones and Ronald Jacobsen, a good friend Steve Hickey, and Dallas Quick, a special uncle.
Memorials may be made to the family.
