Obituary:
Bernard M. "Bernie" Zinsli, 84, of Bella Vista, AR, died Saturday, April 11, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers, Arkansas. He was born May 29, 1924 in Sentinel Butte, North Dakota, the son of Hertha P. and Raymond L. Zinsli.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during World War II.
Bernie married Twila B. Tompkins in Long Beach, California on October 7, 1944. For over 30 years he lived in Pleasant Valley, Iowa and was the owner of Bernie's Phillips 66 in Davenport, Iowa. He was retired from Lions International where he was the Field Representative for 12 years in Ames, Iowa. He enjoyed golf, woodworking, gardening, and spending time with his family and friends. Bernie was President of the Metfield Neighbors.
He is survived by four children: daughter Kittie Bloomer and husband Ron of Bella Vista, AR, daughter Marianne Schroeder and husband Randy of Bettendorf, IA, daughter Maureen Doane of Bella Vista, AR, and son Jeff Zinsli and wife Heidi of Chanhassen, MN; 13 grandchildren 26 great grandchildren; and 10 brothers and sisters. He was preceded in death by his wife Twila, sons Matthew and Anthony, brothers Harry, Ray, and Jerry, and sister Mary Ann.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1300 NE J St, Bentonville with Father Michael Sinkler officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to Bella Vista Chapter of Lions International, c/o Benton County Funeral Home, 306 N. 4th Street, Rogers, AR 72756.
