Floyd Avery Shannon, Jr., 63, of Pensacola died Sunday morning March 16, 1997 at his home.
Mr. Shannon was born in Toomsuba, Mississippi on
January 30, 1934 and received his B. S. Degree from
Mississippi State University. He served his country during the Korean War in the U. S. Army Signal Corps as a
Crytographer. He worked his last 20 years for himself and with his partner as a Real Estate Rental Manager.
He was preceded in death by his mother Lela (Price) Shannon and his father Floyd Avery Shannon, Sr.
Survivors include his friend and lifelong partner, Ralph L.
Cahall; a sister Betty Pagan Vance; two nephews, Norman M. Pagan and Floyd M. Pagan; and two great nieces.
Funeral services will be at 10 am Thursday at Holy Cross
Metropolitan Community Church, 415 North Alcaniz St., with the Rev. Lee J. Carlton officiating.
Burial will be in Barrancas National Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be George McCullough, Bill Barry, Jerry
Thomas, Greg Sheets, Ken Dayton and Joey Harigel.
Harper-Morris Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 7 pm Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions made to
Escambia Aids Services and Education, will be appreciated.
