Donald Herman Deardorff

Donald Herman Deardorff, of Sisters, died Tuesday of natural causes. He was 89.
A visitation will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday at Deschutes Memorial Chapel in Bend. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Sisters Church of the Nazarene.
Mr. Deardorff was born May 11, 1917, in Clackamas to Earl and Gertrude Deardorff. He married Darlene Kufner on Nov. 28, 1969, in Vancouver, Wash.
Mr. Deardorff worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years. He ran a tree farm for 30 years with his wife. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Newport and Sisters. He enjoyed visiting with friends, hunting, fishing, watching deer in his yard and chasing squirrels from his bird feeders. He lived in Sisters for the past nine years and spent the winter months in Yuma, Ariz.
Survivors include his wife; five sons, Dan and David Hunker, both of Portland, Darrell Hunker, of Toledo, Gary, of Glendale, Ariz., and Michael, of Oregon City; four daughters, Gloria Roth, of Portland, Patricia, of Vancouver, Donna Walsh, of Mulino, and Joan Lilja, of Sandy; a brother, Merle, of Puyallup, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and two grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the building fund for Sisters Church of the Nazarene.
Descchutes Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Note: Donald married Louisa May Alcott in Vancouver, WA in 1937. I believe they at some point divorced and both remarried later. Louisa was the mother of the Donald that was born and died in 1940.
