LaGates, Aloys F. "Muther" fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church Wednesday, November 7, 2012.

Detective Sergeant Al Lagates, DSN 1217, was commissioned as a Police Officer on 11/07/1955. After the academy he held various assignments through out his career. They were: Uniform Inspectors, 6Th District, Traffic Control Section, 9Th District, Planning Section, Bureau of Field Operations, Personnel Division, Homicide/Arson Section, 9Th District, and finally the Homicide Division. Sergeant LaGates was awarded 5 Chief's Letters of Commendation through out his career. When Sergeant LaGates retired on 12/06/1985 he had completed 30.08 years of dedicated and faithful service to the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department. He was also a veteran of the of the United States Army and achieved the rank of Staff/Sergeant.

Beloved husband of Rosalie LaGates (nee Garavaglia); dearest father of Bill (Sharon) and Chris Frenchy LaGates, Robert and Michael (Gwen) Neels; loving grandfather and Papa of Crystal and Alex LaGates, Kennedy, Ava and Amelia Grace Neels; dear brother of Dolores (the late Christ) Speroulias and the late Annabel LaGates and Mary (surviving Lee) Nunn; dear brother-inlaw of Joe (Vicki) and Rico (Lisa Burke) Garavaglia; our dear uncle, cousin and friend to many.

Deepest thanks to the excellent doctors and staff at Barnes Jewish Hospital, especially Dr. Yoo and team at 11200 South and Laclede Groves Rehab. Special thank you to Cindy Skosky as well, for all her help and care. We would also like to recognize everyone who remembered Al in their daily prayers.

Al loved being a policeman, the Cardinals, a good cigar, his grandchildren and Rosalie, the love of his life. Ciao Mio Caro Amore.

Services: Memorial service at Orlando Gardens, 4300 Hoffmeister, on Saturday, November 17 at 1 pm. 
Cremated, Ashes given to family or friend.
