Passed away at Joliet Area Community Hospice Home, Tuesday, August 28, 2007. Age 90 years.
Survived by one daughter Elasteen Gayle Crompton of Crest Hill, Two sons Robert (Debra) Glasscock of Ft. Wayne, IN. and Diamond, IL. and Scott (Beth) Glasscock of Elwood. One granddaughter Bonnie (John) Dauer of Plainfield, four grandsons Douglas (Barb) Glasscock of Oak Lawn, IL., Raymond (Jennifer) Crompton of Joliet, Jeffrey (Jennifer) Crompton of Joliet and William John Glasscock of Elwood. A brother Bill Pierce of Sparks, NV. Eight great-grandchildren, also survived by several cousins, nieces, nephews and many good friends.
Preceded in death by her devoted husband of nearly 60 years William Glasscock "The Sweet Corn King", her parents Arvid and Edna (Fields) Kastman Pierce, her stepfather William Pierce, two brothers Waldo Pierce and Arvid "Lefty" (Delores) Kastman. A cousin Merlyn Cundiff and several other cousins.
Elasteen was born in Joliet and was a lifelong resident. Employed with Woolworths in downtown Joliet, also E.F. Meyer Fur Store, Arvid Kastman Fur Store and former manager of Laraway School Cafeteria. Co-owner and inspiration of Glasscock Farms. Life member of Will County Historical Society ans served as a guide at the I & M Canal Museum in Lockport. Former member of Marguarite Bottome Circle of Kings Daughters, member of Jackson Township Home Bureau. Three time Past Worthy Matron of Elwood Chapter #761 Order of Eastern Star, member of Joliet Marguarite Chapter #187 Order of Eastern Star. Former member of Ottawa Street Methodist Church and member of Elwood Community Church.
Visitation will be held at the Carlson-Holmquist-Sayles Funeral Home, 2320 Black Rd., Thurday from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m.
