Arthur "Art" Ayers was born on Thursday; February 4, 1954, in Marshalltown; Marshall County, Iowa. He was the son of: Ron and Janice (Bulanek) Hazen. "Art" graduated from the Marshalltown High School's Class of 1972 and later attended the Marshalltown Community College. Art served our country honorably in the United States Army in Germany. On Friday; December 30, 1977, he was united in marriage to Cindy Kopel in Marshalltown, Iowa. They made Marshalltown, Iowa their home all of their married life where he was employed at G & S Brake and most recently Eastside Tire as a mechanic. Art was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, mushroom hunting, gardening and canning; loved his family and truly enjoyed a nice cold beer! He will be greatly missed by many.

Arthur "Art" Ayers, age: 57, passed away on Thursday, July 14, 2011 in the comfort of his home with his loving family at his side. His last journey was also cared for by the Iowa Hospice. Those left to mourn his passing are: His loving wife of 34 years: Cindy, his children: Matthew Ayers, Steven Ayers and Chad Lammert all of Marshalltown, Iowa. His seven grandchildren, his mother: Janice of Marshalltown, Iowa, his siblings: Thelma Smith, Ron Hazen, Deb (Dick) Fiser, Brad Hazen and Pam (Russ) Haines all of Marshalltown, Iowa as well as his nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles and a host of many friends. In death, Art rejoined his father: Ron, his in-laws: Harold (Helen) Kopel and his grandparents: Gretchen and George Bulanek.
