Roscoe “Buck” Johnson, 79, of Sable Road, Parrottsville, died Tuesday at Life Care Center of Greeneville.

Mr. Johnson was a retired carpenter.

He was a member of the Carpenter’s union, Moose Club, and Eagle’s Club, all in DeKalb, Ill., and Rader-McCravey Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9683, in Bulls Gap.

Mr. Johnson was a Baptist.

He was born in Greene County and was a son of the late Roscoe and Laura Jones Johnson. He spent most of his adult life in DeKalb, returning to Greene County after his retirement.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law: Cathy and Mark Largent of St. Cloud, Minn.; a son and daughter-in-law: Steve and Connie Johnson of DeKalb; several grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law: Ralph and Brenda Johnson, and a sister and brother-in-law: Betty and Ray Tucker, all of Parrottsville; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter: Suzie Everhart; two brothers: Guy Johnson and Paul Johnson; and five sisters: Gladys Johnson, Mary Ruth Hannon, Margaret Rambo, Louise Johnson, and Emma Ellis.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 this evening at Kiser Funeral Home.

The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at Kiser Funeral Chapel with interment in Andrew Johnson National Cemetery. The Rev. Clyde E. Ricker will officiate.

Veterans of Foreign Wars, Andrew Johnson Post #1990, will conduct a military graveside service.

Pallbearers will be John Dale Bowman, Donnie Burgner, Roscoe “Roddy” Johnson, Doug Rambo, Gary Rambo, Chris Eccles, Terry Eccles, and Roger Hawk.
