Frank is the son of James Thomas Patterson, also known as Samuel Mellinger and Martha "Mattie" Butcher. He was number 7 of 13 children. Siblings include Johnny, Lloyd, Jay, Mae, Lula, Lewis, Clara, James, Pearl, Earl, Raymond, and Clarence. He married Opal Marie Leathers on October 25, 1924. They have 3 children Donovan Duane, Roger Deane, and Leatrice Marjean. Frank was employed by the Burlington Northern Railroad for 46 yrs, and spent his life in New London, Iowa. He was a loving father and a wonderful and cherished grandfather.
