First Lieutenant Bookmiller was the pilot of
U.S. Army Air Corps B-24H Liberator
#41-29162, serving with the 707th Bomb
Squadron, 446th Bomb Group from Lowry
Field, Denver, Colorado.

He was one of eleven men killed when the
bomber stalled and crashed, three miles north
of Fountain, Colorado, during a training flight
to March Field in California.
Only one aboard was able to parachute and
