Samuel S. Carson enlisted at Birmingham, Van Buren Co., Ia. as a 19 yr. old on June 24,1861 in Co. H, 5th Iowa Infantry. Mustered out July 30,1864 at Chattanooga, Tn. Found on a list of incomplete records in Iowa Ad. Gen. Office as M.O. with detachment at Chattanooga July 30,1864.
Married Miss Orinda Cooper Eames on Dec.25,1865.
Filed for an invalid pension on Jan.6,1888 and received certificate # 827.942.
Member of E.P. Sheldon Post # 35, Burlingame, Ks. from 1891 to 1915.
James died Oct.28,1918 at Burlingame, Ks.
His widow filed for a pension on Nov.19,1918 and received certificate # 868.922.
