The family has given me permission to re-print the bio from the FB memorial here:

Helen Thurgood Hogan, 84, passed away peacefully August 24, 2015. She was born December 10, 1930 to Robert Melvin and Olive Thurgood of Liberty, Utah. The family moved to the Hogle Estate in Murray, Utah, where her father worked as groundskeeper. Helen was his #1 helper and “buddy”. The family later moved to Salt Lake City. Helen graduated from Granite High School in 1948 and worked for several years at Mountain States Telephone.

Helen was a dedicated member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints her entire life. While serving as a member of the Salt Lake Stake Young Ladies Presidency, she met Keith Hogan of West Jordan. They were married in the Salt Lake Temple on May 25, 1955 and celebrated their 60th anniversary this year. They made their home in West Jordan for 46 years, and in North Ogden for 14 years where she was a homemaker and worked 20 years at West Jordan High School as a Librarian.

Valiantly and consistently living the gospel of Jesus Christ, Helen served in numerous church callings including Ward Relief Society President, ward organist, and a number of Stake Missions. She and her husband were very involved in genealogy, worked in the Ogden Temple as Ordinance Workers and served three full-time missions; Nashville Tennessee, New Jersey South, and Inner City Salt Lake City.

Helen was a dedicated wife and mother and found passion in strengthening her family. She loved classical music and could regularly be heard singing around the house. She loved working in her large yard and getting her hands dirty. She had an adventurous spirit and enjoyed traveling to new places and experiencing new things and different cultures. She loved learning and constantly took classes. She was most happy when she was making a difference to others.

Her presence, her love and her continued support will missed by all that knew her.

She is survived by her husband Keith Hogan, sister Beth Dearden (Marlin), five children; Tracy Barrand (Mark), Rick Hogan (Cindy), Eric Hogan (Carolee), Leslie Bertram (Brad), Chad Hogan (Cindy), 29 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren, with four on the way. She is preceded in death by parents
Robert and Olive Thurgood, sister LaRue Bauman and brother Dee Thurgood.

The family wishes to thank Legacy Village in Layton, Legacy House of South Ogden, Brookdale Estates of North Ogden and IHC Hospice for their service and loving care.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, August 29th at 11:00 a.m. in the North Ogden 17th Ward Chapel with a viewing from 10:00-10:45am, located at 369 East Elberta Drive in North Ogden. A separate viewing will be held in the Relief Society Room at the same building from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m on Friday August 28th. Interment will be in the North Ogden Cemetery at 526 East, 2850 North.
