Douglas Michael Sheets, age 59, died August 16, 2012 as a result of injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on June 9, 2012. Doug was born in New Castle, IN on August 31, 1952 to the late James and Virginia Shewman Sheets.

Doug is survived by his wife Christina Clevenger, a sister Glenda and her husband Steve Centers, Peoria, IL, a brother Darryl Sheets, Cambridge City, a son Justin and wife Dawn Sheets and grandson Ethan Sheets, Pennsville, NJ and a daughter Amanda Sheets Sims of Indianapolis and grandsonsTrizton Carson, Jacob Sheets, and Zane Sims; a sister-in-law Vicki and her husband Doug Jones; a special cousin Shirley Mowry, Angola, IN; and several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. There have been many special people who have touched Doug's life including Tim and Dolores McCullum, Jim and Cara Wedding, Steve Banks, Jerry Overton, Jim Heffernan, Chris and Bitsie Carpenter, the Knipp family, the Rihm families and the Griffey families.

Doug was a 1970 graduate of Lincoln High School, Cambridge City and attended Franklin College where he was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. He joined the Indiana State Police in 1973 and retired in 2001. Doug was Director of Henry County Community Corrections for nearly ten years, and had recently enjoyed farming with the Griffey families.

Doug was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Cambridge Lodge #5 F&AM, Indianapolis Scottish Rite, Cambridge City New Day Kiwanis, a member of the Golay Community Center Board, and the Indiana Polled Hereford Association.

Friends may call at the Waskom Capitol Hill Chapel in Cambridge City on Sunday, August 19, 2012 from 2:00 PM until 6:00 PM. A Catholic Mass will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, August 20, 2012 with Father Joe Rautenberg officiating at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Cambridge City. Per Doug's wishes he will be cremated at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Golay Community Center, 1007 E. Main St. Cambridge City, IN 47327 or St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 333 W. Maple St. Cambridge City, IN 47327.
