In Loving Memory of Nancy Le' Carr

January 31, 1934 to July 12, 2013

Nancy Le' Carr, 79, of Montrose, passed away peacefully at home, Friday, July 12th after an extended illness.

Born Nancy Le' Gardels in Battle Creek Nebraska at the family home to the late Edmund Albert Gardels and Eva Elizabeth Austin. The family moved to Pender, Nebraska in 1935 and in 1949 moved to Fort Worth, Texas where Nancy graduated high school from Lake Worth in May 1951.

Nancy completed accounting classes and worked as a bank teller for several years.

She moved to Montrose in 1956. She worked at the First National Bank where she met

her husband of 55 years, Terrance Kent Carr. They were married March 1, 1958 and together they raised five children. As a homemaker, Nancy was very devoted to her family, friends, church, community and country. She served as PTA president, Brownie Troop and 4-H Leader. Nancy became a member of the Montrose Christian Church in 1965 and was active with teaching at Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Church Camp, and Bible Study. She also enjoyed singing with Young at Heart, Hand Bell Choir and going to Senior Saints luncheons. She was president of Women of the Word and served on the funeral dinner and communion committees for many years.

After raising her children, Nancy worked as a dental assistant at the office of Dr. Howard Sauer. As the family Historian, she taught herself how to use the computer at the age of 60. It was then that genealogy became her passion and she spent countless hours tracing the family history back to the 1500's. She not only wrote her life story, but also compiled a book for each family member and completed the history book for the Montrose Christian Church's 100 year Anniversary in 2008.

Nancy was also an exceptional seamstress and enjoyed gardening, camping, traveling, jeeping, boating, family barbeques and reunions. She loved living in the beautiful Colorado mountains and all it has to offer.

Her husband, Terry, recently passed away on January 2, 2013. She is survived by brothers Edward Gardels of Fort Worth TX and David Palmer of Middlesex NC, whom they raised; daughters, Ronda Carr, Ronlyn Lanning and Kathryn Hagel; son, Ryan Scott Carr; grandchildren, Andrew, Kirk and Evan Palmer, Sabrina Youngblood, Michael Carr, Hannah Henegar and Sarah Hagel; great-grandchildren, Max and Leo Carr, Damien Youngblood and Marlee Henegar.
