Born stillborn to Vurnel Fredrick Moore and Lucy Leona Hardee. He was the third of seven children, having one brother and five sisters. He also had one half-brother and three half-sisters from his mothers previous marriages.

Sisters Shirley Mae Bacon and Polly Allenbach said he was buried in the Pleasant Ridge Methodist Cemetery, Arlington, Shelby, Tennessee, same as sister, Kay Francis Moore. Neither child had markers, so exact site of grave is unknown. Uncles Luther Sparks and Robert Vincent (Sparks) Hardee are buried in the same cemetery. Polly stated that they are all in a line, so if Luther's stone is found, they would be next to his.
