Longtime Alaska resident Quinn "Quinnhauke" Patrick Moore, 30, a mechanic, died Jan. 11 at Providence Hospital. A memorial service was held Monday at the Providence Hospital Chapel. Another memorial service will be held in Anchor Point at a later date.

Mr. Moore was born July 11, 1960, at Winnemucca, Nev. He spent his childhood in the logging camps near Sitka. His education began with correspondence study, followed by attendance at public elementary and high schools. He completed with a GED certificate. Mr. Moore continued his education with three years of vocational training in small engine repair and six months of schooling in diesel mechanics at the Alaska Skill Center in Seward, graduating with honors. Besides earning a welding certificate, he was currently pursuing the study of refrigeration and air conditioning. Employment took him to remote areas of Alaska and introduced him to new challenges and people which he enjoyed immensely, according to his family. His hobbies included fishing the Anchor River and ocean, and hunting moose and spruce chickens near the Ninilchik Domes and in remote Alaska. He enjoyed target shooting with bow and arrow, pistol and rifle, as well as snow machining and kicking back and listening to tunes. In honor of his American Indian heritage, which he lived and loved in his heart and soul, his family said: "The free spirit of Quinnhauke|Quinn the Eskimo has flown from this path of human trials to travel the starry trail of the hawk." His organs were donated to five other people.

Mr. Moore is survived by his parents, Stanley "Bud" and Vada Moore of Anchor Point; his sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Mike Maxim of Anchorage, and their two children; his aunt Mary Jo Johnson of Anchorage; and his cousins, Helen Chase and Michael Moore of Anchorage and Joanna Story of San Diego, and their families. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to the Anchor Point Rescue, Anchor Point 99556, or to the Anchor Point Chapman School, Anchor Point 99556, or to Providence Hospital's Airlift Rescue Service, care of Providence Hospital, 3300 Providence Dr., Anchorage 99508. Local arrangements were by Witzleben Family Funeral Homes and Crematory, Sixth Avenue Chapel.
