Abstracted from History of Washington County Tennessee, 1988 by Watauga Association of Genealogists, p.511.

Christopher Taylor, son of Henry and Sarah Taylor, was born 1746 in Bedford County, Virginia. He married 1768 Mary Edwards. The Taylors settled (1774-76) on 205 acres of land on Limestone Creek in Washington County, Tennessee. They built a two-story log house that stands today in the historical district of Jonesborough.

According to Capt. Taylor's Revolutionary War record, he served (1776) with Capt. Erwin, Col. Christian, and Col. John Sevier against the Cherokee Indians who were in league with the British and he served as Captain under Sevier at the Battle of King's Mountain. Capt. Taylor was present at the surrender of the British Capt. De Peyster. later, Taylor represented Washington County in the first legislature for the State of Franklin.

Capt. Taylor died 10 Sept 1833 in Washington County, Tennessee and was buried at the Taylor homestead. His grave is marked. Mary Edwards Taylor drew a widow's pension until her death 29 March 1837.
