Devoted Christian of the Methodist Faith, Wife of George Edward Stine, Mother of Carolyn Rives, Hettie Susan and Edward Vaughan STINE. Born and raised in Ettrick, Virginia, daughter of Emmett and Hettie Belle RIVES Vaughan, sister of Hettie Catherine, Mary Elizabeth and Robert Rives Vaughan. She married George Edward Stine in 1930, lived in Ettrick a couple of years then moved to Portsmith, VA for his work at the Navy Yard for a time before moving to the District of Columbia and finally in 1939 to Maryland where they raised their three children. She was a gracious Southern belle and a perfect mother. We always had fresh-baked pies & cobblers my mother made from the apple tree and grapevine in our back yard. Always fresh vegetables from the back yard garden. She had a beautiful soprano voice that she shared singing with the Sweet Adelines and her entire life as a soloist in the Methodist church choirs. She worked for the Dept of the Navy until youngest baby was born. While raising the family she was a reporter for a local newpaper and following that she had a successful cosmetic business. Was very active in her children's school activities and PTA. She was a pillar of her church and community, did much charity work, always for the underdog, was of impeccable character and a perfect example of a life well spent, devoted to her family all her days and loved by all who knew her. Rejoicing now in Heaven with her Savior and the family she loved so much that went on before her. Forever missed by her family and those who knew her.
