A page from "The Rosebud" (ed. Bob Goff) says according to the "History and Geography of Bradford County, PA 1615-1924" by Clement F. Heverly and "Pioneer and Patriot Families of Bradford Co, PA 1770-1825", Richard Goff was a native of New England, came to Towanda Creek, settled on the south side on the line between Towanda and Monroe in 1791.

He improved a considerable farm, and died there in 1820 at age 84.

He married Phoebe Hubbel. She died in 1836. Their children were:
1. William (m. Delia)
2. Humphrey (m. Eunice)
3. James
4. Amos (m. Margaret)
5. Sarah "Sally" (m. Aaron Reed)
6. David

Sons William, Humphrey and Amos were drafted at the close of the War of 1812, returning home after a month's duty.

According to "History of the Towandas 1770-1886", C.F. Heverly, 1886, pp 42-43, Richard Goff was from Conneticut and was 84 when he died 19 May 1829. That would make his birth year 1745. (conflicting with other records)

He is buried at Cole's Farm Cemetery, Monroeton, Towanda Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania. Heverly writes that wife, Phoebe, was buried next to his grave.

Richard Goff was perhaps originally from Connecticut, but is said to have moved to Towanda directly from Unadilla, N. Y. The date of his advent into the township is not exactly known. In the assessment made for “Wysocks,” 1796, he had eleven acres of improved land and one hundred fifteen unimproved, and four head of cattle. Hence, we would conclude that he located in about 1794. His farm was next to the Monroe line, adjoining Jared Woodruff’s, on the south side of the creek; and his house was near the creek, some distance off the road leading from Rockwell’s to Bowman’s.

Mr. Goff died upon the homestead, May 19, 1829, aged 84 years, and is buried at Cole’s. His wife, Phoebe Hubbel, was a sister of Mrs. Samuel Cranmer. She died Dec. 29, 1936, aged 72 years and is buried beside her husband.

Son William married a daughter of Rudolph Fox and settled on a portion of his father's place, his house being on the main road next above his brother's, Humphrey. He subsequently moved to Canton Township where he died.

Son Humphrey married Miss Eunice, daughter of Sheffield Wilcox, Sr., one of the pioneers into Albany. He resided in Albany Township for a short time, then returned to Towanda and occupied a portion of the homestead until 1840 when he moved to Liberty Corners and there remained until the time of his demise.

The Goff estates passed into the hands of the Hales, Maj. E. W. now owning the same.
