Charles E. Anthony, 78, died Sunday in Mercy Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born September 28, 1911, at Cedar Rapids, he married Fay Burger here on Jan 25, 1932. She died in 1985. Mr. Anthony was a self-employed excavating contractor for 50 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Odd Fellows, Elks, Mount Hermon Lodge, Cedar Rapids Consistory, and El Kahir Shrine.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia Visek, of Cedar Rapids; a stepson Robert Burns of Arvada, Colorado; two sisters, Florence Overbaugh of Mechanicsville and Clara Baxter of Glendale, Arizona; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
